With twenty five years of experience in the media and entertainment industry, Alaric has held significant leadership roles in both Australia and the US. Here’s a look at some of ReDefine’s recent episodic and film VFX work - now available through our Sydney studio:

The Penguin

ReDefine delivered 277 shots across 6 episodes for HBO’s hit series The Penguin. The team tackled complex 3D simulations for large-scale destruction, including a bomb explosion inside a car and a massive sinkhole including realistic smoke, fire, and debris. The team also took on 2D compositing and 2.5D digital matte paintings, including extensive Gotham City environments, set extensions, muzzle flashes, blood splatters, and winterization effects. At the 2025 VES Awards, our work on The Penguin was awarded ‘Outstanding Compositing & Lighting In An Episode‘ and we also picked up the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Award in the category of ‘Outstanding Special Visual Effects In A Single Episode’ for our work on the series.

Ripley

Our team was proud to deliver 512 shots across 8 episodes as the main vendor on Ripley. Our largest sequence was in Episode 3, during the climactic moment following the killing of Dickie, when Ripley heads to a secluded cove to sink the rowboat where the murder took place. To bring this to life, the team created a full CG cove environment, complete with water effects and CG fire to sink the boat. Additional work on the series included environment work from Manhattan’s skyscrapers to Italy’s coastlines, with set extensions using both full CG builds and digital matte painting, and 66 different CG assets including the Naples train station and the New York subway.

William Tell

As the sole vendor on William Tell, ReDefine contributed 383 shots to the film’s final edit, providing photoreal environment work to bring to life the landscapes of the 14th Century Holy Roman Empire. Key work included the fishing village and the storm sequence, which consisted of CG water, FX storm clouds and environment extensions, as well as recreating Habsburg Castle, which our team extended while removing the city that now surrounds it, restoring it to its historically accurate period. The team also delivered extensive CG crowd work, body scanning 150 extras including soldiers, peasants and archers from different armies for the epic final battle scene!
